Shettleston Community Growing Project has been nominated short-listed for an Action in the Community Award. A representation of members and volunteers will attend the awards ceremony on Thursday 20th October at the Crown Plaza Hotel to find out the result. Whatever the result, we are delighted that we have been nominated. This is our first growing season and the group have already won a Grow Green with Glasgow’s East End Award 2011 for ‘Sustainable Food and Horticulture’.
SCGP participated in the Open Doors and held an Open Day on Sunday 18th September. We were delighted to welcome 154 visitors on the day. Several local people came along and joined up as volunteers. Others came from further afield as they heard the project was an example of good practice and they wanted to see it for themselves.
