Press Release: Dissemination of Glasgow Allotments Heritage Project

The Glasgow Allotment’s Heritage Project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and supported by Scottish Allotments and Gardens Society and Glasgow Allotments Forum. It started in August 2010 and finishes in January 2012.

Colin McLean, Head of the Heritage Lottery Fund in Scotland, said: “This is a fascinating project which uses the history of the allotment as a catalyst for many different activities. It has provided unique learning opportunities for local schools, volunteers, and community groups.  It has also produced an amazing record of our heritage  which can be shared and passed on to future generations. The Glasgow Allotments Heritage Project is to be congratulated on its commitment to making heritage more accessible and we wish them every success with the event.”

The results are now being disseminated including:

  •  An Event showing the results from the Glasgow Heritage Project at the Pearce Institute, Govan on 12 November 2011 from 10am to 4pm
  •  A Display about Heritage of Glasgow Allotments  in the Mitchell Library, Granville St  entrance November 4th - 19th
  •  Leaflets for 12 allotment sites have been designed with photos and quotes showing the past, present and future of their sites
